Hello! I’m Irene, a 50-year-old home cook living in the suburbs of New York with my wonderful family. For over two decades, I’ve been creating meals for my husband of 24 years and our two amazing children. Like many of you, my kitchen has always been the heart of our home – a place where memories are made, traditions are passed down, and love is served on every plate.

How It All Began

My journey in the kitchen started long before I had a family of my own. As a young girl, I would stand on a stepping stool beside my mother, eagerly watching as she transformed simple ingredients into dishes that brought our family together. I still remember the first complete meal I cooked on my own – a simple spaghetti dinner that made my father beam with pride. That moment ignited something in me that has never dimmed.

When I married John and started our family, cooking became more than just a necessity – it evolved into my creative outlet and my way of showing love. Through busy weeknights, weekend celebrations, and holiday gatherings, food has been my language of care.

From Family Table to Your Screen

Over the years, friends and family would constantly ask for my recipes. “How do you make your lasagna so good?” or “What’s the secret to your apple pie?” became questions I heard regularly at gatherings. My recipe collection grew from handwritten index cards to a bulging binder, with notes scribbled in margins and splatter marks telling the story of well-loved dishes.

It was my daughter who first suggested I share my recipes more widely. After creating a simple recipe blog for a school project, she convinced me that others might benefit from my years of kitchen experience. “Mom,” she said, “not everyone has someone to teach them how to cook like you did. Your recipes could help so many people.”

That conversation was the seed that grew into Irene’s Tasty Kitchen. I created this website with one simple mission: to share approachable, delicious recipes that anyone can make, regardless of their experience level.

I’m not a professional chef with fancy training or specialized equipment. I’m a home cook who understands the challenges of putting good food on the table while juggling work, family commitments, and a budget. Every recipe on this site has been prepared countless times in my modest suburban kitchen, often with little helpers underfoot or teenagers hovering nearby, waiting to taste-test.
